2D4 | the drawing board
For many reasons, some projects just never make it off the drawing board. Which is a shame, because we thought some of them were kinda cool! Rough and unfinished, maybe a bit silly, here's a few of our favourites...
2D4 | The Coffee Container
Category: Hospitality | Transportable Kiosk
Location: VIC, Australia
Scope: Concept design
Details: The Coffee Container was a proposal for a transportable coffee shop kiosk which could be situated at various carpark locations across Victoria.
Housing the kiosk within a converted shippping container allowed the design to fit within a standard parking bay and to be easily transported to different sites as needed.
2D4 | San Taco
Category: Hospitality | Mexican Fast Food
Location: Germany
Scope: Concept Design
Details: The brief for this Mexican Restaurant in Germany was "something between industrial and vintage".
2D4's proposal maximises the otherwise small space by utilising bench seating and bi-fold glazing to create a slimline outdoor area, designed to both activate the exterior space and attract passing foot traffic.
A couple of different aesthetics were proposed; one which exaggerates the fun and colour of mexico, and the other with a more grown-up, modern urban palette of finishes.
2D4 | Kiteboarding School
Category: Retail | Bespoke Fitout
Location: Palawan, Philippines
Scope: Concept design
Details: The Kiteboarding and Watersports Centre is intended to act a base-point for a range of outdoor activities, with facilities including storage, rentals, equipment repair, retail, and a kiteboarding and windsurfing school.
The proposal included a beachfront service area and a separate equipment storage facility on an adjacent site. With an ever growing collection of bulky, specialist equipment, bespoke solutions were required to organise, maximise, and enhance the multi-function but highly compact storage space.

Marketed as a giftpack, Welcome Home offers an collection of essential homewares items, packaged in a cardboard house and decorated by the recipient with the aid of a sticker set; a gift, a toy, and a keepsake, all in one.
2D4 | Mobile Home
Category: Residential | Modular Home
Location: UK

Details: Although intended to be entirely stationary and situated on a permanent site, this beach-side holiday house needed to be classified as a mobile home in order to meet local regulations. As such the design was centred around the strict restrictions associated with this.
